Thoughtform is any kind of identity in your mind. Tulpa, daemon, soulbond, alter, whatever. It’s an umbrella term that’s interchangeable with headmate most of the time

Although I’d call a character or servitor a thoughtform but I wouldn’t call it a headmate(edited)

Congratulations, you have solved controversy. It doesnt exist anymore. Correct or incorrect is subjective, dont believe you have the truth.

Controversy is just about conflict, if there is conflict arround something then there is controversy.

Thoughtform has been used for all kinds of things, from plurality to a personification of what creates emotions, to literally anything weird on someones head. At this point it lacks meaning as it fails to convey anything of value, it specifies nothing.
I made multiple tulpas without any knowledge of tulpamancy. So for anyone to think this is anything but a function in the brain and that one group can claim it is complete and utter bullshit. It’s like trying to claim an inner dialogue belongs to one group.
You dont need to do it "without knowledge of tulpamancy". The fact that you can do something like this inside of your head is enough for noone to gatekeep it, and if you werent able to do it it woudnt make sense in the first place.
The thing is that its used for many unrelated things without an underlying logic, which is not the point of an umbrella term.

you should've tagged me in this
stop spreading falsehoods from the 2004 days
you can make a headmate by passively talking to them lots, sure
you can even do it while drawing or commuting or watching shows or playing games
that's the best way to learn imo

Luminesce: Tulpa is really very neutral in terms of "controversy", there's nothing to it despite what some communities like to say (edited)
If I can give a tip, you can try to force before the notification so you learn to do it on your own instead of having the reminder remind you. Timer goes off and you didn't remember, you "lose".(edited)

@Reguile - jump
how about a reminder for a reminder?
could be either. either way it makes sense to call it a falsehood if you think/know it's false and is in the state of being false (-hood)

felt like a fact though

Luminesce: We'd be better off just dropping the term "passive forcing" entirely, it's never been useful or meaningful(edited)

Talking at your tulpa does nothing to progress vocality if you're not paying the slightest bit of mind intending for them to be listening and possibly responding, and if you ARE doing that, then it falls in the category of active forcing
Then you got by through the small amount of intent/expectation that's unavoidable in "passive forcing", like downloading a file at 1mbps instead of 20mb/s

Soooo, if it works then its active forcing... So therefore as pasive forcing is not active forcing it doesnt work. Clear example of putting the conclusions you want to reach directly into your premises.
I don't want to defend the term "passive forcing" ♀️

I don't think it's meaningful or useful to differentiate

Of course you have to pay attention for them to respond. That doesnt make it active as you can be doing other stuff at the same time. which means that instead of forcing 1h a day actively i can force 12h a day pasively and get much better results.
Then why did you say to start with that passive forcing does not work? You made the distinction there.

Luminesce: I pretty much agree, which is why I don't like differentiating between "active" and "passive" forcing like they're innately different things(edited)

I explained what the definition has always been from 2012 to 2020+.

Luminesce: I said before, we've had a thread or two about changing the word "forcing" on the forum, but no one could agree on/come up with a good alternative word(edited)
